During treatment a sustained pressure is applied into the tissue
barrier for up to two minutes, after which the first release will be
felt. After a few releases the tissue will become soft and pliable.
By elongating the fascial system this type of treatment restores the efficiency within the neuromuscular elements and proper mechanical length of the connective tissues. This restoration of length and health to the myofascial tissues will take the pressure off the pain sensitive tissue and restore alignment and mobility to the joints. Myofascial release restores the natural abilities of coordination, strength and power to the horse. Ruth has experienced a great success with this treatment approach especially when combined with other treatment techniques such as joint mobilization, therapeutic exercise programs and soft tissue modalities.
